Kano HoS tasks information ministry staff on efficient record-keeping

Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, the Head of Civil Service of Kano State, has urged staff of the registry department of the Ministry of Information to maintain accurate and efficient record-keeping.

Musa made the call at the opening of a two-day capacity building workshop organised for personnel of the registry department on Wednesday in Kano.

He emphasised that the registry, whether open or confidential, serves as the cornerstone of the ministry’s success.

Musa said record-keeping plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient functioning of the ministry, and ultimately its achievement of goals and objectives.

He said that the registry was a vital component of the ministry, and that its effective management was essential for the ministry’s overall success.

“I intend to augment the staff strength of the Registry Department to boost its efficiency, while also taking disciplinary action against underperforming staff.

“I applaud the Ministry for its initiative in organising the workshop and its efforts to enhance record-keeping standards,”he said.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Information, Halilu Dantiye, said that there had been lapses in record-keeping in the ministry.

Dantiye said the workshop was aimed at equipping the ministry’s staff with the skills to ensure proper record-keeping.

He highlighted the importance of valuing time and having a challenging attitude toward improving record-keeping practices.

The commissioner charged the staff to take their responsibilities seriously and ensure that records were kept safely.

The commissioner also charged directors in the ministry to monitor activities in their departments to ensure compliance with record-keeping regulations.

He said that obeying rules and regulations was critical in maintaining a “guided service.( NAN)
