Kano Inaugurates Board of Survey Committee
Kano state government has constituted a 13 – man Board of Survey Committee, to physically inspect and verify unserviceable public assets, for possible auction.
Ameen Kabeer Yassar, Director, Public Enlightenment of the Ministry disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday
According to Kabeer, the State Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Ismaíla Aliyu Danamaraya, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Sabi’u Shu’aibu Muhammad, inaugurated the committee, saying the action is in compliance with a directive to that effect, from the State Executive Council.
He explained that the committee was mandated to “collect, collate and produce a comprehensive list of all store items proposed to be auctioned by ministries, departments and agencies across the state”.
The Commissioner stated further that the committee is to visit, verify, confirm and indicate the locations of all store items identified, recommended and submitted by the ministries, departments and agencies for auctioning.
In addition, Dr. Danmarya said it is to assess and produce a comprehensive classification of all store items identified for auction, along with justifiable price value and to submit progress report regularly for further action by the government.
The committee is also charged with the responsibility to prepare a comprehensive report detailing its findings for conveyance to the state Auditor General, for further advice, and to submit any other recommendation incidental to its findings, for informed government decision.
Dr. Danmaraya, therefore, charged the committee to execute the assignment with diligence and fear of God.
The committee is chaired by Alhaji Sani Alhassan, Director Administration and General Services with members drawn from the State Ministries of Finance, Works, Public Procurement among others.
