Kano Pyramid Handball Team Clinches Victory in 2024 Malikawa Cup

The Kano Pyramid Handball team has emerged as the champions of the inaugural 2024 National SWAN Ex-Officio Malikawa Garu Handball Tournament. The exhilarating competition concluded with Kano Pyramid securing a well-deserved victory after prevailing over Bayero University Kano with a final score of 18-12 in the culminating match held on the 9th of January, 2024 at Ado But Square Sabon Gari Kano State.

The village head of Malikawa Garu and esteemed National SWAN Ex-Officio, Alhaji Lurwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, expressed commendation for the sterling efforts of the competition’s organizers in honouring his name in conjunction with the event. Notable dignitaries present at the closing ceremony included Chairman of SWAN Kano state chapter, Zaharadeen Saleh, Assistant Secretary of SWAN Kano, Muzammil Dalhatu Yola, Ex-Officio of SWAN Kano,  Musbahu Bala Cediyar yan Gurasa, and Salisu Musa Jegus, all of whom lent prestige to the event.

The tournament, which comprised four formidable teams including Kano Pyramid, BUK, Kano Old timers, and Junior Kano Pillars Handball team, was fiercely contested, culminating in an electrifying final match. Kano Pyramid’s resolute performance allowed them to take a definitive lead with a 10-5 advantage at the conclusion of the first half, ultimately propelling them to the championship amid an atmosphere of intense rivalry and sportsmanship.

The victory of the Kano Pyramid Handball team in the 2024 Malikawa Cup serves as a testament to their dedication, skill, and unyielding spirit. The team’s triumph is a source of pride for both the players and their devoted supporters, and it symbolizes the culmination of their hard work and commitment to the sport.
