Kano re-run: Police laud residents for peaceful conduct
The Police Command in Kano State on Saturday expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the re-run elections in the state.
The Police Commissioner, Mr Hussaini Gumel, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Saturday that the exercise was currently going on peaceful without any form of violence.
Gumel said the police and other security agencies in the state were working to ensure a crisis-free election.
He added that “we have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security before, during and after the election.”
He said the security personnel were out en masse to ensure security before, during and after the conduct of the re-run elections in the 60 polling units across the three constituencies of the six local government areas of Kano State.
“We are deploying additional security personnel to Kunchi/ Tsanyawa constituency to ensure peaceful conduct of the exercise”, he added.
He appreciated the support of the electorate as they conducted themselves peacefully.
Gumel is currently on an inspection tour across the six local government areas to monitor the elections.(NAN)
