Kano Set to Host 2025 KANFEST, Says Deputy Governor

The Kano State Government has announced its readiness to host the maiden edition of the Kalankuwa Festival, popularly known as KANFEST 2025.
The State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, disclosed this during a press briefing held in his office on Friday.
Comrade Gwarzo, who also serves as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, revealed that the historic festival is scheduled to take place from Saturday, October 25 to Monday, October 27, 2025.
He explained that the Kalankuwa Festival will serve as a platform for the intergenerational transmission of language, values, and traditions key elements that define the identity of the Kano people.
“We want to showcase the noble culture of the people of Kano State through our food, attire, education, traditional dances, commerce, and other aspects of our rich heritage,” he stated.
The Deputy Governor further noted that the event would provide a vital platform for artists, artisans, and creative youth to display their talents to the world, thereby creating employment and empowering young people across the state.
According to him, reviving and preserving Kano’s traditions is a key component of the administration’s cultural agenda, as “culture is the soul of any society it defines how we live and transmits the beliefs that unite us as one community.”
Comrade Gwarzo reiterated that the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration is committed to reviving KANFEST as part of its efforts to restore and promote the state’s cultural heritage, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots.
“Our aim is to tell the nation and the world who we are, what we represent, and how proud we are of our cultural identity,” he concluded.
