A Kano Sharia Court sitting at Hisbah Board on Tuesday sentenced eight pimps to three months in imprisonment and ten lashes each for their involvement in indecent dressing and public dancing.
The Sharia Court publicly administered the caning as prescribed by Islamic laws at the Hisbah Board premises.
The pimps were found to have engaged in a cart dance at a wedding ceremony and caused a stir by appearing in crossdressing outfits.
Presiding over the case, Mallam Sani Tamimu Hausawa, found the culprits guilty of all the charges, after explaining the relevant laws.
The judgment included a three-month imprisonment term, a fine of N10,000 each, and ten lashes for each of the offenders.
The Pimps admitted to their charges and expressed remorse, seeking forgiveness and promising not to repeat their actions.
Mujahideen Aminu Abubakar, the Acting Commander of the Hisbah in the state, expressed gratitude to the Presiding judge and vowed to continue the fight against indecency in the state.
