Kano State Government Begins Occupancy Verification at Kwankwasiyya and Amana Cities
Kano State’s Special Committee on the Revival of Kwankwasiyya and Amana Cities has commenced its assignment in earnest, beginning with occupancy verification at the Kwankwasiyya City housing estate.
The committee will soon extend the exercise to Amana City, ensuring compliance with the directive issued by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The governor had given property owners a three-month ultimatum to occupy their houses or risk revocation, emphasizing the need for full utilization of the estates.
In line with this directive, the special committee, led by its chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who also serves as the State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, has deployed survey officials for physical verification of houses.
The exercise aims to assess the level of completion and occupancy status of the buildings, among other key details that will guide the government in enforcing the order.
As part of efforts to make Kwankwasiyya and Amana Cities more habitable, the governor has renovated the governor’s lodge in Kwankwasiyya City, equipping it with essential infrastructure and amenities. The government is committed to ensuring that both cities expand with adequate development facilities, in line with the vision of their initiator, Engineer Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Significant investment has already been made in the expansion of Kwankwasiyya City, aligning with global urbanization and sustainability standards. The Special Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the full implementation of the project, working diligently to maintain and enhance the necessary infrastructure.
The Kano State Government remains focused on sustainable urban development, ensuring that all housing projects are effectively utilized to benefit residents and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
