Kano State Govt.To Spend Over N9.8 Billion On Road Projects,Flood Control

The Kano State Government is to spend more than ₦9.8 billion on the execution of various road projects across the state.

Part of the amount will also be spent on flood control and renovation projects in the state.

The State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the
33rd meeting of the State Executive Council held last Saturday.

Comrade Wayya said the projects were approved during the meeting of the council which was chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Among the projects,he said,were the
installation of solar-powered streetlights at Kwankwasiyya City at the sum of
₦339,644,836.05,and the construction of hydraulic structures along Kwanar Durba–Fammar–Konau–Kure Road in Kibiya Local Government (Phase II) which would gulp ₦207,174,230.95.

He said the council also approved the sum of ₦277,452,289.48 for renovation and construction works at Audu Bako Secretariat (Phase II),and
₦393,334,675.71 for general renovation works at the state Ministry of Works.

Similarly, the meeting approved ₦219,951,530.82 for the construction of a dwarf fence and entrance gate at a plot adjacent to Gidan Fiat, Naibawa, Zaria Road,and ₦2,633,028,973.31 for the construction of Dambatta–Gwarabjawa Road in Dambatta Local Government Area.

According to Comrade Wayya,the sum of
₦810,824,310.98 was also approved for the installation of road studs on selected roads within Kano Metropolis,while the sum of ₦388,517,336.52 was set aside for flood control works at Baban Gwari Roundabout along Katsina Road.

Furthermore,the sum of ₦185,430,198.66 was approved for maintenance works along Karaye–Rogo Road (Damagari Phase II), while ₦2,471,436,590.12 was okayed for the supply and installation of 4-way intersection traffic lights across major roads in Kano State,he said.

While ₦135,324,750.00 was approved for the supply and installation of all-in-one solar-powered streetlights at Ado Bayero Square, New Road, Sabon Gari and its environs,the commissioner stated.

He said a total of over N19 billion was approved by the council for the execution of projects across various sectors of the State’s economy including Works and Infrastructure,Education, Health,Water Resources, and Power and Renewable Energy.

“This government remains focused on transparency, accountability, and the continuous improvement of the living standards of the good people of Kano State,”Comrade Wayya added.
