The Commander General of the Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps, Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik has reiterated that the Corps is a legally established security outfit backed by the laws of Kano State and not a conventional or informal security group.
Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, Director Public Enlightenment of the Agency disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday.
According to Yusuf, the Commander General, made this known while addressing officers and personnel of the Corps during an Iftar gathering held at the Agency’s Headquarters.
He explained that the establishment of the Corps was guided by the enabling laws of the state which clearly define its responsibilities and operational framework in supporting the security architecture of Kano State.
According to him, the Corps was created to complement the efforts of other security agencies in maintaining peace, law, and order across communities in the state.
Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik RTD therefore charged officers and personnel of the Corps to continue to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, dedication, and hard work in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.
He reminded the Corps that the law establishing the Agency mandates them to work in close collaboration with other recognized security organizations in promoting peace, stability and security throughout Kano State.
Speaking on the significance of the holy month of Ramadan, the Commander General noted that the Iftar gathering was not only an opportunity for officers and personnel to break their fast together but also a moment for reflection on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan, which emphasize patience, sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and service to humanity.
He encouraged members of the Corps to draw inspiration from the virtues of Ramadan by strengthening unity, mutual respect, and commitment to the service of the people of Kano State.
The Commander General further urged personnel to use the blessed period to intensify prayers for Allah’s guidance, protection, and wisdom in the discharge of their duties.
He also called on the officers to pray for sustainable peace, unity, prosperity, and stability across Kano State and the nation at large, noting that peace and security remain the foundation for development and societal progress.
The Commander General commended the officers and personnel for their sacrifices and dedication to safeguarding communities and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The Iftar gathering provided an opportunity for renewed unity, spiritual reflection, and collective commitment among members of the Corps towards strengthening community-based security and fostering peaceful coexistence in Kano State.
