Kano State Police Command Urges Peace Ahead of Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations

The Kano State Police Command has called for calm and peaceful coexistence among residents as preparations for the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebrations intensify. The appeal comes amid concerns about possible security threats, particularly during the Durbar festivities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, made the call on Tuesday while receiving delegations from the Kano State Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), led by Dr. Musa Sufi, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), headed by State Chairman Amb. Comrade Ali Hassan Tudun Bayero. During the meeting, both groups expressed concerns over security challenges in the state and urged law enforcement to take proactive measures to prevent violence.

CP Bakori acknowledged the concerns and assured the public that the Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, is taking strategic steps to maintain law and order. He revealed that intelligence reports indicate that some groups plan to hold parallel celebrations, which could heighten tensions and lead to clashes.

“In light of the current security concerns, we are re-strategizing and consulting with relevant stakeholders to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” CP Bakori stated.

He urged residents to remain peaceful, prioritize unity, and report any suspicious activities to the police through the provided emergency contact numbers:

“As we celebrate this joyous occasion, let us remember that peace is paramount. We must put aside our differences and come together as one people for the progress of our state and nation,” he added.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while urging residents to cooperate with security personnel to ensure a peaceful and successful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
