Kano State Students Hail Judiciary Over Handling Of Election Petitions
By Abdullahi Yusuf
The National Association of Kano State Students has commended the nation’s Judiciary for its “professional” handling of petitions arising from the 2023 general elections.
The President of the association, Yahaya Usman Kabo, made the commendation while addressing a News Conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Kano, on Tuesday.
Kabo said the way and manner the Judiciary handled the election cases so far, had renewed the hope of citizens for a better Nigeria.
“We commend the Judiciary for ensuring justice, fair play, perfection and professionalism in their handling of all the election petitions arising from the 2023 elections.
“No doubt, the Court’s handling of the election petitions has renewed our hope for a better Nigeria,” the union said.
The association, therefore, distanced itself from any protests before and after the impending judgement of the Supreme Court in the Appeal filed by Governor Abba Yusuf against the verdict of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal which all voided his election.
“Kano State students will not be part of the planned protests as they are evil machinations aimed at disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in our state,” the group said.
It said the planned protests would achieve nothing but tarnishing the image of Kano State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The association then urged all its members and the people of the state to continue to support the APC candidate in the 2023 governorship election, Dr Nasiru Gawuna, in view of his pledge to improve the standard of education, if becomes the Governor of the state.
