” It represents a solemn pledge to academic excellence, ethical integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge. The 1740 students being matriculated today are embarking on a journey filled with promise and potential. Although the time between today’s ceremony and their eventual graduation may seem long,”

While commending this effort of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf for his tireless efforts in improving the education sector, Bunkure, the said the university matriculation was the first of its kind since the upgrading of the college to a university of education.

“I would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the elected Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unshakable commitment to the advancement of education in our dear state, by providing opportunities for our youth which is truly commendable.”

The Vice Chancellor, urged the new students to avoid forms of evil that may lead to disengagement from the university.

Addressing the new undergraduates, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, tasked them to embrace self-discipline, self-care, good dressing, and comportment within and outside the campus.

He pointed out that the government’s decision to establish Sa’adatu Rimi University made a lot of sense.

According to him, ” Because of the preference of youth for university education, secondly it will help to produce the needed human capacities to drive the state in its pursuit of a free education policy, and lastly, it will greatly address the idle youth syndrome,” Kofarmata stated.

The commissioner, added that the state government is very much aware of the competition for the limited places that characterize Nigerian Universities.

He however, described SRUE as a student-centered university, commended the varsity’s management for organizing the event at this crucial time and the laudable achievements recorded by the university within the short period of assumption.

Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata emphasized that with the assumption of the present administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf, education is one of the thematic areas, which is why the government has declared the sector a state of emergency.
