Kano Youth Network Hosts Iftar to Strengthen Police-Community Relations

As part of efforts to promote peace, unity, and appreciation for security agencies, the Kano Youth Peace and Security Network (YPSN) organized an Iftar and Dialogue on Peace and Security at the Rijiyar Zaki Divisional Police Station.
The event, held on the 25th of Ramadan, aimed to acknowledge the sacrifices of security personnel in safeguarding lives and properties while promoting mutual trust and collaboration between law enforcement and the community.
The gathering provided an opportunity for dialogue, shared reflections, and strengthened partnerships between security agencies and residents of Rijiyar Zaki.
Participants reaffirmed their collective commitment to peace, security, and community-driven policing efforts.
Among the notable attendees were Barr. Maimuna Umar Shariff, Special Adviser to the Governor of Kano State on Community Policing, the Village Head of Rijiyar Zaki, religious leaders, and community members.
Several civil society organizations dedicated to peace and security in Kano, including Mufarka, YOSPIS, Global Peace Development, and Elevators Initiative, were also present.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rijiyar Zaki, SP Jamilu Bala Jibrin, expressed gratitude to YPSN for organizing the event and recognizing the efforts of law enforcement.
Barr. Maimuna Umar Shariff described the Iftar as a strategic initiative to strengthen community support for policing. She urged participants to collaborate with security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
In their remarks, Barr. Nura Ahmad Muhammad, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of YPSN, and Fiddausi Salihu, President of the Network, appreciated all attendees for their participation and commitment to promoting a safer society.
