Kasham Hosts AI-Focused Workshop to Empower Kano Youths on International Youth Skill Day
By Mustapha Salisu
As part of their efforts to commemorate International Youth Skill Day 2024, the non-governmental organization Kasham Girls, Women, Youth and Community Development Network (KGWYCDN) organized a one-day workshop for over 100 youths from all 44 LGAs of Kano State, including Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs).
The summit, themed ‘Youth Skill for Peace and Development,’ was held yesterday at the Kano State Primary Healthcare Board Conference Hall and was supported by the Society for Family Health (SFH) and A360.
The organization’s Executive Director, Mrs. Dinatu Dama Maji, stated during the event that the workshop aimed to remind youths of the importance of acquiring unique skills to create innovative and sustainable ideas.
She added that these ideas would help reduce unemployment, make youths self-reliant and productive, and instill a sense of responsibility in creating resources for themselves, the state, and the country.
Mrs. Maji emphasized that the event focused on training youths to synergize the use of artificial intelligence as a tool to enhance their existing ideas, making them more sustainable.
She highlighted that if every philanthropist, organization, and resident of Kano supported at least one youth with skill resources, poverty and unemployment could become history in Kano State.
Aliyu Abdulaziz Aliyu from the Society for Family Health (SFH) explained that their support for the event stemmed from the fact that youths constitute the largest and most unemployed population in Nigeria.
He added that SFH focuses on empowering young people to become independent and have a voice in peace and sustainable development.
