Katsina Elders Task Tinubu On Revocation Of Katsina/Dutsinma Road Contract

By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Katsina State Forum of Elders has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the revocation of the contract for the construction of the Katsina-Dutsinma-Marrabar Kankara road by the Minister of Works, Mr Dave Umahi.

The Forum said it is aware that contract for the 147 kilometre road project was revoked on “flimsy excuses.”

A statement signed by the Forum’s Spokesperson, Dr Namanga Danmajiya, said the contract which was awarded by the Tinubu administration in April 2024, was “cherished and welcomed by the overwhelming population of Katsina citizens.”

“Because of the award of the contract by President Tinubu, his popularity and support swelled among the citizens of Katsina State because it will help in the transportation of goods to and from the state,”Danmajiya said.

He said the road if completed would also facilitate movement of goods to and from the neighbouring Niger Republic.

He, however, explained that the revocation of the contract is negating the good image and support the President is enjoying from the people of the area.

“We know that the revocation of the contract is not the personal idea of the President, because to everybody the President is a Nationalist who believes in the well being of every section of the country, we want to him to listen and do the needful by allowing the contractors to continue with their job,”the spokesperson said.
