Katsina LG Chairman Leads Handover of Contract Documents for ₦690 Million Girls’ Secondary School Construction

The Chairman of Katsina Local Government Council, Isah Miqdad, has led the official handover of contract documents for the construction of a Girls’ Secondary School in Katsina Local Government Area to the project contractor, marking a significant step toward improving access to quality education within Katsina LGA.

Rafindadi said the construction project which was valued at ₦690,000,000,was approved by the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, CON, who authorized the release of 40 percent of the contract sum as mobilisation fees to enable the immediate commencement of work.
In his welcome address, the Councillor representing Wakilin Gabas II Ward, Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Malam, told journalists that the project originated from a formal complaint he submitted to the Katsina LGA Chairman on the urgent need to establish a Girls’ Secondary School, considering the educational demands of the community.
He explained that the LGA Chairman promptly escalated the request to the Governor, who graciously approved it. He expressed appreciation and goodwill to all those involved, describing the handover of contract documents as the successful outcome of that advocacy.
Speaking on the technical details of the project, the Executive Secretary of KTDMB, Dr. Mustapha Shehu, provided a comprehensive briefing on how the construction would be carried out.
He appealed to the contractor to give priority to the engagement of indigenes of the host community, as a means of promoting self-reliance and boosting local economic participation.
In his remarks, the Katsina LGA Chairman, Hon. Isah Miqdad, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Dikko Umar Radda for his consistent support and responsiveness whenever requests beyond the capacity of the local government were presented.
He assured that a strong monitoring committee would be constituted to oversee the project from inception to completion, ensuring quality delivery.
The Chairman further called on members of the host community to take ownership of the project by serving as vigilant watchdogs, in order to prevent vandalism or interference by unscrupulous elements.
Goodwill messages were delivered by several dignitaries, including the ZEQA Coordinator, representative of the Emir of Katsina and Sarkin Zango, Katsina, as well as other stakeholders who attended the event.
