KDIN, Kano Gov’t Set to Host 2nd Digital Kano Conference 2025, Focuses on Economic Resilience

The Acting President of the Kano Digital Innovation Network (KDIN), Abdulsalam Abdulrashid Hamza Me-Turare, has announced preparations for the 2nd Digital Kano Conference 2025, scheduled to take place in Kano from September 22nd to 26th, 2025, describing it as “the Most Impactful Event in Northern Nigeria.”

According to Me-Turare, the previous conference exposed participants, including marketers, to new insights into technology which they embraced, generating significant anticipation for this year’s edition.

Speaking at a press briefing today at KDIN office in Kano, he revealed that the conference, themed “Economic Resilience: Addressing Financial Inclusion, Food Security, Urban Challenges, and the Green Economy in Nigeria,” is being organized by KDIN in partnership with the Kano State Government.

He explained that the event is designed to consolidate Kano’s position as a leading digital innovation hub in Northern Nigeria and the Sahel region, building on the success of the maiden Digital Kano Conference in 2023, which attracted more than 2,000 participants both physically and virtually across Nigeria, as well as the Northern Investment Summit and Startup Expo in Kaduna that further amplified the region’s investment potential.

“This year’s edition is expected to be bigger, attracting over 5,000 participants, including international delegates from South Africa, Canada, the United States, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and several other countries” he hinted.

Me-Turare noted that the conference targets the general public, particularly those passionate about startups, IT practitioners, entrepreneurs, government agencies and employees, traders, women entrepreneurs, students, youths, and innovators.

He emphasized that the gathering will not only spotlight Kano’s growing startup ecosystem but also serve as a catalyst for public-private partnerships and international collaboration to address regional challenges through digital solutions.

PRIME TIME NEWS gathered that, the conference will be graced by high-profile dignitaries,expected among them includes the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima, as Special Guest of Honour, and the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, as Chief Host.

Other attendees expected will include the Technical Adviser to the Jigawa State Governor on Digital Economy, representatives from the Sokoto State Ministry of Digital Economy among others.

Key partners include the Kano State Government as host, alongside the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA), KNARDA, the Kano State Chamber of Commerce, and other relevant ministries, departments, and agencies.

Additional support comes from organizations such as the Arewa Consultative Forum, NCCK, Cascador, FinTech NGR, SparkLab, AUA Technologies, and Bunkasa, among many more, all committed to ensuring the conference delivers tangible results.

Me-Turare further revealed that the event will feature a multi-track program with keynote addresses, policy dialogues, innovation showcases, startup pitches, and high-level networking opportunities, modeled after global gatherings like the Web Summit, Africa Tech Festival, and the World Economic Forum.

“Several strategic initiatives will also be unveiled, including the Infrastructure Network for African Food (INAF), the Kano–China Innovation and Trade Expo, the Pan-African Youth Digital Lab, and the Women in Innovation Forum, all aimed at strengthening food systems infrastructure, enabling cross-border collaboration, empowering young innovators, and promoting women’s inclusion in the digital economy” he revealed.

Me-Turare stressed that the expected outcomes include increased financial inclusion through FinTech adoption, the deployment of agricultural technologies to boost food security, digital skills empowerment for women and youth, investor confidence leading to startup deals, and new urban innovation projects to advance Kano’s green economy.

“Our task is to make Kano a beacon of digital resilience where innovation drives inclusive growth. We are working with partners and governments to ensure outcomes that directly benefit women, youth, and rural populations across Northern Nigeria,” Me-Turare said.
