KNSG Advocates Collaborative Efforts Among Security Agencies

By Mustapha Salisu

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has urged security agencies across the country to foster synergy in their operations to enhance overall security in Nigeria.

The Governor made this plea during a courtesy visit by the Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on the Nigerian Army at the state government house.

Represented by his Deputy, Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Governor Yusuf expressed concern about the deteriorating security situation in the Northwest Zone, particularly grappling with issues like banditry and kidnapping.

“There is no denying that the ongoing challenges in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kaduna states are not conducive for the people,” remarked the Governor.

Emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts among security outfits, Governor Yusuf highlighted the importance of a synchronized approach before, during, and after operations. He stressed that criminals often flee across state borders, and effective synergy would facilitate a comprehensive response to criminal activities.

“All efforts of the security are commendable, but the synergy is the only setback,” Governor Yusuf emphasized.

While noting the relative peace enjoyed by Kano State compared to other states in the Northwest region, the Governor expressed concern about the challenges faced by neighboring states.

The Governor urged the committee to leverage the information gathered during their visit to sustain efforts in ensuring the security of lives and properties in the Northwest region and Nigeria at large. He emphasized the importance of restoring normalcy for citizens to pursue their economic activities without fear.

The leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Joint Committee on Army, Sen. Abdullahi Mahmuda, explained that the purpose of the visit was to oversee the ongoing Army recruitment exercise at Falgore.
