KNSG bolsters education commitment with the launch of 2023 NECO exams

The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken a significant step in prioritizing education by officially flagging off the commencement of the 2023 National Examination Council (NECO) in the state.

The governor declared the examination open at Rumfa College for final year Senior Secondary School Students in Kano.

Representing the governor, Deputy Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo emphasized the importance of organizing the event, stating that education is the foundation of any progressive nation worldwide. He highlighted that the government sees investing in the educational sector as a vital step towards shaping the future leaders of tomorrow.

Governor Abba disclosed that the Kano State Government has approved the payment of over N1.5 billion as examination fees for more than 57,000 students across all Secondary Schools, Technical Schools, and Islamic/Arabic Secondary Schools in the state.

The governor also urged the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to collaborate with schools in their respective wards to monitor the progress of their children and motivate them to achieve greater results.

Governor Abba reassured the citizens of Kano of his commitment to the betterment of education in the state and called for their cooperation in elevating education from primary to secondary level.

The State Commissioner for Education, Umar Haruna Doguwa, announced that the Ministry of Education has formed committees to assess closed boarding schools in the state with the aim of reopening them.

He commended the state government for improving the feeding programs in boarding schools and assured the provision of furniture for schools in the state in the near future.

During the vote of thanks, Hamisu Muhammad Gwagwarwa, Acting Executive Secretary of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB), expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Deputy Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo for prioritizing the educational sector. He pledged to assist the government in actualizing its vision of making education in Kano reach new heights.

Notable figures present at the flag-off ceremony included the Director of Recruitment & Training at KSSSSMB, Umar Haruna Doguwa, as well as the Zonal Director of the Municipal Zonal Directorate, Baban Gida Abdulrahman Sambauna, and parents.
