KNSG Warns LG Chairmen Against Illicit Sale of Gov’t Properties

Kano State Government has issued a stern warning to all 44 local government chairmen instructing them to immediately cease from any unauthorized sale of government properties within their domain across the state.
The warning comes following reports that local government chairmen have allegedly engaged in the illicit sale of government assets, including farms, plots of land, shops, and residential properties.
This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai on Saturday.
His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed grave concern over these reports and emphasized the need to protect public assets.
The state Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, delivered a strong message, warning that the government will take decisive action against anyone found guilty of selling government properties.
Comrade Gwarzo revealed that an intelligent team has been dispatched to various local government areas to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the unauthorized sale of government properties.
“The government’s warning extends to land encroachers, with a clear emphasis on the legal consequences for those found to have participated in the sale or purchase of government-owned land”. Stated the Commissioner.
He urged members of the public to augment the government’s efforts by reporting any instances of individuals selling government properties across the state such as Farm land, Grazing Land, Government Houses,Market Stalls and shops as well as landed Properties.
According to him, the collaborative approach is crucial in ensuring the preservation of public assets and upholding the rule of law
He assured that the Kano State Government remains committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and the protection of public resources, affirming that any individual found culpable in this illicit activity will face the full force of the law.
