KSCB seeks NBC support to ban unlicensed films, books

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, KSCB, Alh. Abba El-Mustapha, has called for the National Broadcasting Commission’s, NBC assistance in banning unlicensed books and films from media stations in Kano.

He emphasized the crucial role of the NBC in maintaining moral standards within the media.

He revealed this in a statement signed by Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, Information Officer, Kano State Censorship Board.

According to the statement, he revealed this during his visit to the NBC, aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two organizations.

El-Mustapha highlighted the importance of collaboration in ensuring strict adherence to regulatory frameworks that promote decency and uphold societal values.

“We need the active support of the NBC to enforce laws and regulations, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of our community,” El-Mustapha stated.

He further underscored the significance of NBC’s role in fostering compliance with its guidelines, noting that their dedication and cooperation are essential to the success of the Board’s vision and mission.

El-Mustapha reaffirmed the KSCB’s commitment to maintaining moral standards and fostering a socially responsible media environment in Kano State.

In response, Alh. Adamu Salisu, the NBC Kano State Coordinator, expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged full support and cooperation towards achieving the Board’s objectives.

“We are ready to support the KSCB in its endeavors to promote responsible media content in the state,” Salisu said.

He also praised the Board for its relentless efforts in aligning the film industry with societal norms and values.
