From Ahmad Muhammad
The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusif Abdullahi Ata, made a surprise visit to the 300-unit Lambu Housing Estate in Kano State, bringing hope to thousands awaiting affordable housing solutions.
During his inspection on Sunday, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress but noted significant delays.
Ata noted that some parts of the housing estate were commendable, while others were unimpressive due to delays.
He however, attributed the delays to inadequate infrastructure, including impassable roads, making it difficult for contractors to transport materials.
The state housing Minister, also, expressed concerns about the quality of construction materials used, emphasizing the need for concrete foundations to ensure durability.
“Kano is a top priority in the Tinubu-led government’s initiative to provide affordable housing solutions. Currently, only Katsina and Sokoto states have made notable progress in this regard ”
Ata, assured that his ministry would work tirelessly to address the housing deficit in Kano.
Construction Supervising Officer Mallam Umar attributed the delays to damp soil experienced during the last rainy season. However, he assured that the project is progressing smoothly.
