Lawmaker extends support to victims of Zamfara windstorm
In a remarkable show of compassion, Rep Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC, Bungudu/Maru) stepped forward to provide much-needed assistance to the victims of the devastating windstorm that recently struck Kura Community in Bungudu Local Government of Zamfara.
The windstorm left a trail of destruction, ravaging numerous houses and public buildings in its wake.
Responding to the urgent needs of the affected residents, Rep Abdulmalik Zubairu took it upon himself to extend a helping hand, offering monetary aid to the victims to help them cope with the aftermath of the disaster.
During the presentation of the assistance to the victims, Rep Zubairu expressed his deep concern for their plight and emphasized that the gesture was aimed at providing support and relief to those who had suffered the brunt of the calamity.
“I am working diligently to secure additional assistance from the Federal Government for the victims,” he announced, showing his commitment to exploring all avenues to alleviate the hardships faced by the impacted families.
Representing Rep Zubairu at the event was Alhaji Musa Kwatarkwashi, the former Special Adviser to the Zamfara government on emergency management. Alhaji Kwatarkwashi disclosed that a total of 71 individuals had been affected by the disaster.
To address the immediate needs of the victims, the allocated funds were distributed according to the severity of their losses.
Eight of the most severely impacted victims were each given N100,000, while ten others received N50,000 each. Additionally, 53 victims received N30,000 each to aid in their recovery.
Alhaji Lawali Sama’ila, the District Head of Sankalawa, and Alhaji Sani Kabiru, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sankalawa Ward, both commended the lawmaker for his compassion and responsiveness during this challenging time.
