LG Polls: KANSIEC Reviews Parties’ List, Says Poll To Hold As Scheduled

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission(KANSIEC) has reviewed the list of political parties cleared to participate in tomorrow’s local government elections.
The commission had earlier at a press conference on Friday announced the names of NNPP, ZLP, Accord Party, NRM, AAC, and AA as the parties which would partake in the polls.
But hours later,the Chairman of the commission,Prof.Sani Malumfashi, summoned another media briefing and announced a revised list of parties to participate in the election namely,
AA, ACCORD, AAC, APM, NNPP and ADC.
Malumfashi said the polls would hold as planned,as the commission had concluded preparations to conduct a hitch-free exercise.
Meanwhile,the State Government has announced a movement restriction across the state ahead of the polls.
The restriction, effective from midnight to 6 p.m. on the election day, aims to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the polls.
The state Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, said in a statement that the precautionary measure aims to guarantee the safety of lives and property during the elections.
“Only essential service personnel, including election officials, security personnel, and accredited journalists, are exempted from the restriction order,” Dantiye added.
