Ma’aji Sumaila Expresses Dismay Over Delayed School Project in Doguwa, Summons Contractor

The Honorable Commissioner for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, has expressed strong dismay over the lack of progress in the construction of the Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida Blocks of four classrooms in Rufa’i town, Doguwa Local Government.

During an inspection tour yesterday, Ma’aji Sumaila criticized the contractor’s failure to appear on-site despite receiving a percentage of the project’s payment. While he expressed satisfaction with most of the projects inspected so far, he was visibly disappointed with the situation in Rufa’i town.

“This is the only project giving us a headache, with the contractor nowhere to be found and no progress report,” the commissioner stated. He directed that the contractor be summoned to his office the following day for an explanation.

The commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and value for money in public procurement and project implementation across the state.

During the tour, Ma’aji Sumaila inspected six major projects across Kiru, Tudun Wada, and Doguwa local governments. These included the upgrading and renovation of Kafin Mai Yaki Primary Health Care to a General Hospital, the construction of a five-kilometer road in Tudun Wada, and the general renovation of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso College of Arts, Science, and Remedial Studies.

Additionally, he visited ongoing construction projects of another five-kilometer road in Doguwa and the Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida Blocks of four classrooms in Tudun Wada Model and Rufa’i town, Doguwa Local Government.

The commissioner reiterated that the state government remains committed to ensuring that all public projects meet quality standards and are completed on schedule.
