Mai Kaltungo Honored by Society of Nigerian Artists for Dedication to Society

The Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) has presented its prestigious Distinguished Patron Award (DPSNA) to HRH Engr. Saleh Muhammad Umar, the Mai Kaltungo. The award ceremony took place during the SNA Conference and Awards held in Abuja on November 26, 2024.
HRH Mai Kaltungo, who serves as the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee North East Coordinator and Deputy Chairman of the Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, received the award through Engr. Sama’ila Mohammed Umar, Dandarman Kaltungo. The award was later officially presented to the Mai Kaltungo at his palace in Kaltungo on Thursday.
The Society of Nigerian Artists, established in 1963, is the umbrella body for practicing visual artists in Nigeria and Nigerians in the diaspora. Its members include sculptors, painters, textile designers, ceramists, printmakers, art educators, photographers, and journalists, with representation across the country through state chapters.
The award recognizes HRH Mai Kaltungo’s exceptional contributions, passion, and unwavering support for the development of the creative industry, particularly in promoting visual arts and supporting artists.
The investiture ceremony was held on November 26, 2024 at the Exhibition Pavilion, opposite Radio House, Central Area, Abuja.
