Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been urged to appoint a Special Adviser on Widows and Orphans to ensure proper documentation and improve the welfare of vulnerable groups in Kano State.
The call was made by the Chairman of Maidile Widows and Orphans Welfare Association in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, Malam Usman Dalhatu, during the distribution of foodstuffs and Sallah sewing materials to widows and orphans in the state capital.
Dalhatu said establishing the office of a Special Adviser would go a long way in improving coordination and welfare support for widows and orphans across the state.
He described Governor Yusuf as a hardworking leader who always puts Kano first in his administration, and called on residents of the state to continue supporting him to achieve the desired objectives.
The chairman also commended individuals and groups who contributed in one way or another to the success of the programme in the area.
Over 150 widows and orphans benefited from the distribution of Sallah sewing materials for children and foodstuffs for the widows.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event thanked members of the association and donors, praying for God to reward them abundantly.
Highlights of the event included the distribution of foodstuffs and Sallah sewing materials to the widows and orphans present at the occasion.
