Makarfi LG Celebrates Sons’ Achievements With Awards

The Makarfi Local Government Education Support Committee in Kaduna State has honoured two of its illustrious indigenes,Prof.A’isha Abdulkadir and Prof.Gausu Ahmad.
They were honoured for their outstanding achievements and contributions to their respective fields of endeavour.
Professor Abdulkadir, Head of the Soil Science Department at the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and Professor Ahmad, of the Department of Mass Communication at Bayero University Kano, were each presented with an award of excellence during separate ceremonies held at their respective universities.
The award ceremony, held separately at both universities, was officiated by the district head of Makarfi, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi.
He praised the professors as role models and
commended their contributions to academia and community development.
Alhaji Abdullahi specifically commended Professor Abdulkadir for her commitment to advancing agricultural excellence and bridging the gap between academia and the farming community and described Professor Ahmad as an academician who has nurtured young generations to embrace journalism as a profession.
Alhaji Mahmud Gazara, Chairman of the
committee, emphasized the tradition of honouring individuals who achieve such
significant milestones.
He expressed hope that their achievements would inspire
the younger generation in the area.
The presentations were attended by distinguished guests from both universities and the Makarfi community led by the District Head and members of the Committee.
At Ahmadu Bello University, representatives from the IAR included Prof. Ado A. Yusuf (Executive Director), Prof. S. B. Abdu (Dean, Faculty of Agriculture), Prof. Nafiu Abdu (Deputy Director), and Dr. Sharhabil M. Yahaya (Head, Agricultural Extension Services). The Makarfi LGA community was represented by Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi (District Head of Makarfi), Alh. Bako Mamuda (Chairman of the Committee), Alhaji Kabiru Abdullahi Sada (Village Head of Makarfi), Hon. Samaila Aliyu, Prof. Lawal Saidu, and Nuhu Suleiman Makarfi.
At Bayero University Kano, the ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Umar Pate (Vice Chancellor, Federal University Kashere Gombe State), Prof. Abdallah Uba Adamu (Former Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria), Prof. Umar Faruk Jibril (Dean, Faculty of Communication), Prof. Ahmad Muhammad Makarfi (Former Nigerian Ambassador to Brazil), Prof. Mainasara (Head, Mass Communication Department), and Dr. Musa Labaran.
