Malaria control : Jigawa govt set to disburses 6.8m doses of SPAQ, 3m ITNs

As part of effort to eliminate malaria, the Jigawa state government in collaboration with National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) funded by Global fund Malaria project concluded arrangement to distribute over three million of Insecticide Treated Nets in the state.
This was announced by the Malaria Consortium Campaign Director Rilwan Muhammad Anka while delivering his speech at the 2024 media orientation on Integrated ITN and SMC campaign in the state.
He explained that, the household registration and simultaneous administration of cycle 1 of SPAQ will commence from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28 July 2024, urging the community members to leave some one at home within this period to receive the CMDs.
According to him, the distribution of ITN will be a double phase approach (mobilization in the household then onward distribution at designated points) while the SPAQ administration will be a household door to door approach.
While making his remarks, the commissioner for health Dr Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa who was represented by the state director Public health Dr Muhammad Abdulwahab appealed to media practitioners to embark on massive campaign for the success of the exercise.
The director who assured more committiment for people health on the state, added that children aged between 3 – 59 months are eligible to receive SPAQ adding that people should endure to follow all the rules while using the ITNs.
