Man Dies After Falling Into Open Water in Kano State
Tragedy struck in Kunture town, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, when a 30-year-old man, Rabiu Sani, lost his life after slipping into a puddle while fetching water.
The Kano State Fire Service reported receiving a distress call at approximately 9:57 a.m. from a police officer, Silas Munkhaila, alerting them to the incident. Rescue teams swiftly mobilized and arrived at the scene by 10:15 a.m.
According to the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the victim had been sent by his father to fetch water. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell into the puddle, becoming unconscious. Despite the rescue team’s efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased was handed over to the ward head of Kunture town, Uba Abdulkadir.
The Fire Service cautioned residents to exercise care when accessing open water sources to avoid similar accidents.
