A philanthropist,Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, has sponsored Hernia and Hydrocele surgeries for over 12,300 vulnerable patients in Katsina State.

Malam Husaaini Kabir, a member of the Mangal Foundation Board of Trustees, disclosed this during the launching of the second quarter of the exercise in Katsina.

Kabir said that the foundation had been conducting free surgeries and treatments every quarter of the year since its establishment in 2013.

He stated that between 500 and 600 vulnerable patients benefited from free hernia and hydrocele surgeries in the state, each quarter of the year.

“This initiative does not only help people in Katsina town; it also supports residents of villages within the state and neighbouring regions.

“Our goal is to reduce the financial burden of healthcare for vulnerable individuals who struggle to meet basic needs,” he said.

Kabir urged other organisations and philanthropists to support similar initiatives, particularly to assist government’s efforts to provide health care to the people.

He stressed the importance of collective action in tackling healthcare challenges in underserved communities.

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed praised the initiative and urged governments, private organisations and wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture.

They stated that they had endured their conditions for many years but could not afford the surgeries due to economic hardships.

The foundation also provides free eye treatment and surgery for vulnerable patients in the state.
