Marwa Charges Personnel On Professionalism, Inspect New NDLEA’s Zonal Barracks in Yola

The Chairman and chief executive officer of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), General Muhammad Buba Marwa charge the personnel of the Agency to be patriotic and professional in discharging their official responsibilities.

General Marwa gave the charge in Yola,the Adamawa state capital Thursday while inspecting the ongoing construction of the zonal barrack of the Agency stressing that such postures from personnel would be translated as an appreciation to the government for giving special attention to their welfare and security.

Marwa who took much time to personally inspect  all the new  infrastructures finished and ongoing in the barrack situated at kwanar waya near NNPC Depot Yola expressed appreciation to the opportunity accorded the Agency by both former president Muhammad Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

Marwa who was noticed visibly excited expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the infrastructures by the contractors as well as the consultants handling the projects.

He said with the 95% level of completion reached so far, his Agency (NDLEA) would hopefully commission the barracks by the middle of this year, (2024) with all things being equal.

“We will fully launched the first phase of the projects before middle of this year (2024) with the 95% level of completion reached so far.

“We are targeting to have one (1) befitting barracks in the six (6) geographical zones in the country for equity and balance” Marwa assures.

While urging for more support and cooperation from Nigerians over the war against drugs abuse, Marwa stated that in 2023, his Agency has counselled and rehabilitated over 10,000 clients in facilities across the country.

He added that in the near future, the Agency under his watch will announce a major seaizure as a breakthrough that will impress the nation calling on all and sundry to support the fight against drugs abuse in our societies.

In an interview with journalists at the site of the projects,the head of consultant overseeing the work, Chief Resident Engineer of RTU Architects Company Ltd, Engineer Emmanuel Gazama said the project is categorised in two phases as the first phase has been completed to be commissioned soon.

Engineer Gazama explained that, 7 blocks of 3 bed room flats will be accommodating 42 senior officers, 6 blocks of 2 bedroom flats will accommodate 88 officers while 7 blocks of 16 one bedroom apartments will be house over 150 junior personnel respectively.

He added that the infrastructure in this first phase will have; General Administration block,State Admin block, workshop, quarter guard and generator house among others.
