Mass Defection Rocks Ganduje’s Constituency as Governor Yusuf Welcomes New NNPP Members ‎

‎Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed immense joy and satisfaction as he officially received a large number of decampees from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) into the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

‎The mass defection, which took place at the Government House, Kano, on Friday, saw prominent politicians and their supporters from Dawakin Tofa constituency pledge their allegiance to the NNPP.

‎This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

‎Governor Yusuf, who was visibly delighted, said the defections were a testament to his administration’s impactful programmes and policies over the past two years.

‎ He recalled that during the 2023 campaign, when he visited all 44 local government areas, including Dawakin Tofa, he promised to deliver dividends of democracy to every part of the state.

‎ “Dawakin Tofa is a crucial local government in our struggle, and I am the happiest person for this massive defection from the APC to the NNPP,” he declared, while extending his gratitude to the NNPP’s National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who also expressed happiness over the development.

‎The Governor highlighted some achievements in the area, including the completion of the five-kilometer road in Dawakin Tofa, abandoned by the previous administration, and promised to build a new school in the constituency.

‎He assured the new members of full integration into the NNPP without discrimination, warned against intimidation, and pledged more dividends of democracy.

‎ He also announced plans for a familiarization tour ahead of the 2027 general elections and a policy change for the Dawanau International Market, which will be transformed into an agency with a Managing Director and board for efficient management.

‎While commending the Local Government Chairman for generating N500 million internally and executing projects with the amount, he promised to address all complaints appropriately.

‎Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Council, Hon. Anas Danmaliki, praised the Governor’s efforts, noting that his administration completed projects in 15 primary schools and sponsored over 1,000 students in tertiary institutions.

‎ NNPP State Chairman, Hon. Hashim Dungurawa, congratulated the decampees and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the constituency, saying, “God willing, just as Gwale supported you in 2023, Dawakin Tofa will do even better.”

‎Leader of the NNPP in Dawakin Tofa and Special Adviser on Publicity, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Speaker, revealed that some defectors joined voluntarily and called for the completion of abandoned projects started by the immediate past government in Dawanau and Tumfafi wards.

‎Representatives of the defectors, including Hon. Nura Tumfafi, Hon. Isyaku Dahiru Kwa, Alhaji Umar Ismail, Alhaji Abba Muntari, Sani Shafiu, Hussaini Adamu, Alhaji Abdullahi Ayuba, Magaji Ruba-Ruba, Sabo Adamu, and Abdullahi Sale Turaki, applauded the Governor’s “giant strides in health, education, civil service, pensions, and human capital development.”

‎They also commended the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and the Local Government Chairman, Anas Muktar Bello, for their dedication to the people.
