Mazoji Demands Tinubu Intervene in Shehu’s Suspension

Zaharaddeen Babba Mazoji has urged President Bola Tinubu to reevaluate the suspension of Halima Shehu from her role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
Mazoji voiced this sentiment following Shehu’s impeachment amidst allegations of financial malpractice, despite her recent screening and confirmation by the Senate.
Mazoji emphasized that as a professional working under the direct oversight of a Minister responsible for all transactions, Shehu’s suspension amid reports of an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) requires careful scrutiny before such drastic action is taken.
“It’s regrettable that the suspension of his appointee was approved without a prior investigation or the establishment of an investigative panel to ascertain the allegations that led to the suspension,” expressed Mazoji.
“Information available indicates that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation may have links with Ms. Halima during her tenure as the APC National Woman Leader, possibly influencing her appointment at NSIPA.”
Mazoji posed questions about the situation, urging President Tinubu to swiftly intervene and address the public concerning any missing funds and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance. Mazoji stressed the importance of a thorough investigation to unveil those responsible for embezzling or attempting to embezzle public funds.
“We implore President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to thoroughly review the suspension of Ms. Halima Shehu, especially following the rapid appointment of Mr. President’s associate, Akindele Egbuwalo, as her replacement. Minister Betta Edu’s prompt recommendation of Egbuwalo hints at a rushed decision and the potential suppression of certain information.”
“As responsible Nigerian citizens, we aspire to assist the President in making informed and just decisions,” concluded Mazoji.
