By Abdullahi Muhammad Sheka

Hon. Zaharaddeen Babban Mazoji, a former Senatorial aspirant from Funtua Zone and a prominent figure in Katsina state’s PDP, advises President Tinubu on Nigeria’s pressing security challenges.

He emphasizes the need for reform in the security forces, particularly in improving their benefits and providing modern technological facilities.

Speaking to journalists amidst recent bandit attacks in the North West states of Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Sokoto, Mazoji stresses the pivotal role of Nigerian security agencies in addressing community threats.

He urges authorities to ensure that security personnel receive financial packages commensurate with those serving in international peacekeeping missions.

Furthermore, Mazoji highlights the importance of supporting the families of deceased officers, advocating for government provision of healthcare and education expenses.

This, he argues, would enhance security effectiveness, accountability, and positively impact the lives of the populace, especially the vulnerable.

Addressing broader issues, Mazoji suggests solutions to reduce petrol and gas prices, thereby mitigating food inflation nationwide. He underscores the significance of fostering trust and legitimacy between security forces and the populace, emphasizing the need for modern equipment and improved remuneration.

Mazoji underscores the criticality of officer welfare and safety, emphasizing that their well-being is essential for morale and productivity. He calls upon the National Assembly to enact laws and provide essential support for security families.

In light of escalating security challenges, Mazoji affirms the commitment of security agencies to devise strategies for safeguarding lives, property, and promoting economic growth.

Amidst these trying times, Mazoji calls for collective action from all stakeholders, acknowledging the efforts of Governor Umar Dikko Radda in addressing the crisis.
