The Kano Heads of Media Forum has commended the State Government over its infrastructure development of all parts of the state, urging the residents to make judicious use of the facilities.

“We appreciate the efforts of Kano State Government in physical developments across Kano state. However, we call on the public to make judicious use of the facilities provided by the government,be they health centers, educational institutions, community halls, or digital infrastructure. These are public assets meant to serve the collective good.

“Misuse, neglect or vandalism of these facilities undermines progress and wastes taxpayer resources. We must cultivate a culture of ownership and accountability. Let us treat these facilities not as distant government projects, but as extensions of our homes and communities,”the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Ado Sa’idu Warawa, said.

Warawa, who was addressing a press conference in Kano on Sunday, also encouraged citizens of the state to intensify efforts at mobilizing eligible voters for both online and in-person registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter registration exercise.

“You are all aware that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has embarked on revalidation of voter cards. This exercise is not a mere administrative formality-it is a cornerstone of democratic participation.

“We urge every eligible citizen to take this process seriously. Your voter card is your voice, your power, and your right. Revalidation ensures that our electoral register is accurate, inclusive, and secure.

“Let us not wait until the eve of elections. The time to act is now. Visit the designated centers, follow the procedures, and encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. A credible election begins with a credible register.

“Let us match and exceed-the momentum seen in other states by leveraging community outreach, media sensitization, and grassroots engagement.

“Together, we can ensure that every eligible Nigerian participates in the electoral process to a robust democratic governments at all levels,”the Forum said

On the suspension of live political programmes in the state, the Forum said,”You may recall that on May 9th 2025 this Forum took unanimous decision to suspend live political broadcasts.Since that time we have witnessed tremendous improvement of quality political programmes in Kano.”

“I wish to restate our Forum’s position on the ban of live broadcast political programmes. This decision was not taken lightly. In recent times, we have observed a troubling trend-where live political broadcasts have become platforms for misinformation, incitement, and unguarded rhetoric that threatens national unity and public peace.

“While we remain committed to freedom of expression and media plurality, we must also uphold the ethics of responsible journalism. Political discourse must be moderated, factual, and constructive. Pre-recorded and editorially reviewed content allows for balance, context, and accountability.

“We call on all media houses to respect this directive and collaborate with us in promoting a media environment that informs without inflaming, educates without exaggerating, and unites rather than divides,” the group added.
