Mufarka Initiative Partners KNSG, UNICEF to Strengthen Auxiliary Workers’ Support for Kano Vulnerable Children

The Mufarka Youth Development Initiative, in partnership with Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, organized a comprehensive 3-day capacity-building training for auxiliary workers in Kano Municipal LGA.

The event, held from the 27th to 29th of December 2023 at the Kano Municipal Islamic Center, received significant support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), as reported by PRIME TIME NEWS.

Barrister Nura Ahmad Muhammad, the Executive Director of Mufarka, highlighted that the initiative aimed to equip auxiliary workers in Kano State with updated skills under the new curriculum for auxiliary social work.

“This was geared towards enhancing social services provision, particularly for vulnerable children, including Almajiri children and out-of-school Adolescent Girls” disclosed Barr. Nura.

He added that the training encompassed various aspects, ranging from empowering Almajiri Youth and Out-of-School Adolescent Girls to life skills, safety, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and providing psycho-social support within Kano Municipal.

Barr. Nura further disclosed ongoing collaborative efforts between Mufarka and UNICEF, focusing on case management to reinforce justice and social welfare for vulnerable children within Kano Municipal.

Huzaifa Jamil Kofarmata, a participant and social activist from Kano State, expressed gratitude on behalf of fellow participants, acknowledging Mufarka for organizing this crucial training for auxiliary workers.

He equally pledged to effectively share and apply the knowledge acquired to advance the welfare of vulnerable children in Kano state.

PRIME TIME NEWS revealed that the 3-day initiative, launched on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, and concluded on Friday, December 29th, 2023, attracted participants from diverse groups, including community social workers, youth organizations, women’s associations, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
