From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

A community-based organization populary known as ‘Muryar Birnin Kudu’ marked its five-year anniversary with celebrations at the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State.

As part of the festivities, the association inaugurated new leaders tasked with steering the union for the upcoming tenure.

Alhaji Garba Hassan Jibril (Sarkin Kudu), the outgoing chairman of the association and district head of Birnin Kudu, highlighted the organization’s founding goal in 2018—to foster unity among the populace and drive development within Birnin Kudu.

Reflecting on the past five years, Sarkin Kudu emphasized the association’s success in unifying the community and spearheading pivotal developmental projects.

Notable achievements included attracting World Bank-funded water projects totaling eight hundred million naira and the establishment and completion of the Birnin Kudu General Hospital, acclaimed as one of the country’s modern healthcare facilities.

However, Sarkin Kudu identified misconceptions about the association’s activities within the community as a significant challenge faced during their tenure.

During the event, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, the secretary to the state governor and a native of the area, pledged to address challenges linked to the state government, assuring the community of his commitment.

In addition, Alhaji Basiru Muhammad Sunusi, the senior council member of the Dutse emirate (Galadiman Dutse), urged the new leaders to exhibit diligence in advancing the association to greater heights.

The newly inaugurated executive members are Alhaji Balarabe Sa’id as chairman, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim as vice chairman, Malam Dauda Mu’az as secretary, Ibrahim Isyaku as assistant secretary, Hajiya Jummai Bala as treasurer, and Comrade Kabiru Zubairu as Publicity Secretary.

They have vowed to uphold unity and drive development within Birnin Kudu during their tenure.
