NADCEL 2025: Sector 2 JTF NE OPHK Fosters Youth Engagement with Public Speaking Event in Yobe

The Nigerian Army has Friday commenced its 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) activities in Damaturu with a significant public speaking engagement focused on the force’s future and fostering civil-military relations.

Organized by Headquarters Sector 2, Joint Task Force (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), the event was officially welcomed by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General OO Oluyede.

This year’s NADCEL theme, “Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for Nigerian Army Transformation Drive,” underscores the Army’s commitment to enhancing the development, welfare, training, and values of every soldier to build a more effective, responsive, and modern force.

The engagement attended by students, teachers, community leaders, and the public,aimed to strengthen ties and highlight the NA’s dedication to its personnel and the communities it serves.

The keynote presentation, titled “Nigerian Army: The Pride of the Nation; Criteria for Selection, Enlistment, and Career Opportunities,” was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel MA Saleh, Deputy Chief of Staff, Headquarters Sector 2 JTF NE OPHK.

Lt. Col. Saleh outlined the purpose of NADCEL, celebrated annually on July 6th, which includes offering prayers for fallen heroes and conducting activities like medical outreaches, educational support, and public speaking engagements among others.

“The Nigerian Army deemed it fit to organize this speaking engagement to educate you on its activities, elicit robust discussion, and generate interest among the younger generation, especially our students,” he stated.

Regarding the criteria for selection and enlistment, Lt. Col. Saleh explained that this section addressed the recent conclusion of the recruitment exercise and aimed to provide clear guidance on requirements.

He specifically mentioned common problems encountered, such as discrepancies between candidates’ birth or death certificates and records on the Guarantor Verification System (GVS) or National Examination Council (NECO) results.

On his part, Senior Master, Government Day Senior Secondary School Damaturu ,Mallam Bukar Zarman said,this is a crucial program, especially for his students since many wish to join the Nigerian Army after graduation.

“The lecture will allow students, teachers, and guests to ask questions and clear doubts about the Nigerian Army’s operations and opportunities,” he added.

The event concluded with a presentation of books and souvenirs to the schools and distinguished guests, respectively, followed by a group photograph.
