The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Hospital in Kano has announced a new partnership with Anatomia Education LTD, a healthcare education organization, to raise awareness about cancer.
Dr. Maryam Nasir Aliyu, founder of Anatomia Education, expressed her gratitude to the NAF Kano command for their commitment to providing quality and affordable healthcare to the Kano community.
During a courtesy visit to the hospital’s commander, Group Captain K.U. Obi, Dr. Aliyu highlighted her specific interest in cancer awareness. She noted that the NAF hospital is the only government-owned facility in Kano with a functioning mammogram machine, a crucial tool for early breast cancer detection.
“Partnering with the NAF will be a great milestone for tackling cancer and creating awareness,” Dr. Aliyu said, emphasizing the importance of accessible cancer screening.
She further pledged to provide capacity-building training for NAF healthcare personnel, particularly in areas related to cancer detection and treatment.
Group Captain Obi welcomed the partnership, acknowledging the need to address a broader range of health concerns beyond cancer. He pointed to sickle cell disease as another area requiring increased awareness and education.
“The NAF hospital is well-equipped and provides 24/7 service across various departments, However, raising public awareness is crucial to ensure optimal utilization of our resources.” Group Captain Obi stated.
