NAFN applauds Dangote’s contributions to Nigeria’s agriculture

The National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN) has described the Dangote Group as one of the major contributors to the development of agricultural sector in the country.

The NAFN hailed the company as a “colossus” and the “backbone” of the country’s agricultural sector.

Dr. Samuel Negedu, National Coordinator of the NAFN, revealed this at the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Agricultural Show.

He specifically highlighted the company’s construction of rice mills, which he believes will significantly support the Nigerian government’s efforts to achieve food security.

Dr. Negedu expressed gratitude to the Dangote Group and Alhaji Aliko Dangote for establishing Africa’s largest fertilizer plant adding the company’s role as the primary sponsor of the ongoing 2023 National Agricultural Show.

Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized the government’s commitment to developing a standardized framework for facilitating agricultural business in the country.

He stated, “Agricultural shows have evolved into valuable platforms for showcasing the latest advancements in the agricultural sector. They bring people together to network, conduct business, and provide the public with a glimpse into farming life. Moreover, they serve as a hub for the farming and rural communities to connect, share ideas, and take a break from their farms.”

Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, called upon stakeholders to make investments in agriculture to transform Nigeria into a food-secure nation with a robust value chain.

Arch Ibrahim, who also serves as the National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), advocated for incentives for smallholder farmers (SHFs) in the form of seedling support to enhance food security.
