NAPRI trains 30 Yobe technicians on use of modern artificial insemination equipment

The National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) has trained a total of 30 technicians from Yobe State on the procedures and use of modern artificial insemination equipment.
The trainees, drawn from the 17 local government areas of the state,had theoretical classes in the morning hours and corresponding practical classes in the afternoon.
It was a two-week intensive training which was held at the headquarters of the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Shika from 7th – 18th July, 2024.
The training followed the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement and Action (MoAA) between NAPRI and Yobe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Yobe-L-PRES).
The training was anchored by relevant staff of the concerned programmes at the Institute. After the training all the lectures were compiled into manuals and distributed to the trainees for use as reference materials in the practice.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training programme,the Executive Director,National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Professor. Muhammad Rabiu Hassan,emphasised the significance of the training for self-development,job creation,poverty reduction,and improved livelihoods along the artificial insemination value chain.
The Executive Directorate also encouraged the trainees to see their selection for the training as a valuable opportunity and privilege.
In her remarks, the Coordinator, Yobe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Yobe-L-PRES),Hajiya Adama Hussaini Madaki, stressed the importance of the training, which according to her,could impact positively on their lives and extend the benefits to others.
The two-weeks training programme covered a total of 18 course modules which included among others artificial insemination instrumentation,farm facilities and artificial insemination instrument,male and female organs,as well as hygienic semen collection, evaluation, dilution and preservation.
At the training closing ceremony,the Executive Director, National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Professor.Muhammad Rabiu Hassan, expressed appreciation to the Yobe-L-PRES and the State Coordinator,Yobe State Project,Hajiya Adama Hussaini Madaki,for the confidence they had in NAPRI to conduct the training.
Professor. Hassan also assured the Yobe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project(Yobe-L-PRES) of NAPRI’s readiness to undertake similar or other trainings on different livestock value chains that may require NAPRI’s expertise in the future.
The principal officers of the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) and other dignitaries attended both the opening and closing of the two-week training programme.
