Anambra State Government has announced the temporary closure of the New Auto Spare Parts Association (NASPA) Market, Nkwo Nnewi, following low compliance with the governor’s directive to end Monday sit-at-home activities across the state.
According to the announcement, the market will be closed from midnight on Monday, 23rd February 2026, and is scheduled to reopen on Monday, 2nd March 2026.
The closure order was delivered on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, alongside the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AVM Ben Chiobi (Rtd), and Nnewi Mayor, Hon. Echezona Anazodo.
Traders and customers have been urged to stay away from the market until its reopening to avoid confrontations with law enforcement agents. Authorities warned that failure to comply with the directive may result in further closure of the market.
Meanwhile, following the governor’s directive issued in late January 2026, normal Monday activities have resumed across other parts of Anambra State.
