The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Nigeria Police Force for the swift arrest of suspects linked to the gruesome murder of a woman and her children in Dorayi, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the association praised the prompt and decisive action of the security agencies, describing it as a demonstration of professionalism and commitment to justice.
NAWOJ said the development has helped to reassure residents and restore public confidence in the state’s security architecture.
The statement was jointly signed by the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Kano State Chapter, Sayyida Bahijja Malam Kabara, and the Assistant Secretary, Comrade Aisha Muhammad Yanleman.
The association also expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family, describing the incident as a painful and irreparable loss.
It extended its condolences to the government and people of Kano State, noting that the tragic killings have shocked the conscience of the nation and underscored the need for collective responsibility.
NAWOJ further urged families and communities to be more vigilant and attentive to the wellbeing of their members, warning that mental health challenges such as depression and related conditions often go unnoticed.
According to the association, early care, attention and timely intervention could help prevent avoidable tragedies.
While calling on relevant authorities to ensure that justice takes its full course, NAWOJ stressed that accountability would serve as a deterrent and reaffirm public trust in the rule of law.
The association also prayed for peaceful coexistence, safety and harmony in Kano State and across Nigeria, reiterating its commitment to advocating for the protection of women and children, as well as the promotion of peace and security.
