From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has joined the global community in celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to recognizing and promoting the rights, empowerment, and education of girls worldwide.
This year’s theme highlights the importance of investing in girls’ leadership, education, and digital inclusion to secure a brighter and more equitable future.
NAWOJ Kaduna, led by its Chairperson, Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, and Secretary, Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to amplifying the voices of girls, advocating for their rights, and creating media spaces that showcase their potential and achievements.
The association also called on government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, and community leaders to strengthen efforts toward protecting the girl child from abuse, discrimination, and marginalization, while ensuring access to opportunities that enable them to thrive.
NAWOJ Kaduna further pledged to continue using the power of the media to promote gender equality, mentorship, and empowerment for every girl in Kaduna State and across Nigeria.
