NCM, Fulani Groups Allege Unlawful Killings by Security Forces, Call for Investigation

From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna

The Northern Consensus Movement (NCM) and Fulani groups have accused security agencies of engaging in the killing and harassment of the Fulani community in the Ladduga grazing Reserve in the Kachia local government area of Kaduna state and various parts of Northern states.

In a press conference held in Kaduna, Dr. Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, the President of the Movement, highlighted recent incidents, including the attack on Fulani youths in Tilde Fulbe, allegedly by suspected security agents.

“As law-abiding citizens, witnessing the daily loss of innocent lives among our brothers and sisters, it is imperative to unite, express our displeasure, and address these ongoing issues for a lasting solution,” emphasized Dr. Awwal.

He drew attention to a recent incident in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state, expressing concern over the potential threat to peace and coexistence.

Dr. Awwal called on the youths to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the risk of a breakdown of law and order and an escalation of the crisis.

In a bid to address the situation, he urged the Chief of Defense Staff, General Gwabin Musa, to establish a committee for a thorough investigation, aiming to put an end to the alleged unlawful harassment and killings of Fulani youths in the country.

While pledging loyalty and support to security agencies in their fight against criminal activities, Dr. Awwal stressed the importance of maintaining neutrality and urged relevant security agencies to exercise caution and professionalism in their operations, allowing the legal system to prosecute offenders in accordance with the law.

The NCM and Fulani groups also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis in Plateau and the broader national context.
