North-East Development Commission (NEDC) in collaboration with Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) has donated 112 public address system to the six states of the region.
Dr Garba Iliya, the Executive Director Administration and Finance of the commission made this known while presenting some of the systems to Yobe government on Monday in Damaturu.
He said the gesture followed a request by the Community Development Officers while conducting a general needs assessment across 112 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the region.
“So this need assessment that was carried out came out with the common position.
“JICA requested for areas of intervention, which you requested for public address system. ”
“So JICA provided 112 public address systems across the North East.
“So we are here today to deliver to you on behalf of JICA the public address systems for this state,” he said.
Realising the importance of the systems, Iliya added that the Managing Director of the Commission also promised to provide more to Yobe.
He enjoined the beneficiaries to make a judicious use of the systems.
In his remarks, Alhaji Modu Gashua, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information thanked NEDC for the donation and other projects in the state.
