NEF Targets 10,000 Displaced People For Food Intervention, Conducts Medical Outreach

The Nigeria Evangelical Fellowship (NEF) in collaboration with Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) have launched a food distribution program aimed at supporting vulnerable displaced people in the BAY States (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe).

The intervention which kicked off at the EYN Church Headquarters in Maiduguri, saw over 100 adolescent girls and women who also received hygiene kits, while displaced individuals from the CAN IDP center were given 75kg bags of grains, cooking condiments, and detergents.

Medical outreach was also carried out during the distribution and drugs were given to people with ailments as some of the beneficiaries also underwent vital signs Medical examination.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Executive Secretary/CEO NEF-AEA and Project Coordinator of the program in Nigeria, Rev. James Akinyele urged them not to lose faith in God and to continue praying for peace in Nigeria. He described the current security challenges as existential, but assured that God would soon intervene to restore peace.

Rev. Akinyele explained that the program targets 300 households in Borno, 350 in Adamawa, and 300 in Yobe, aiming to support approximately 10,000 direct beneficiaries.

He emphasized that the intervention is designed to provide relief to those affected by the crisis in the region, while calling on well spirited individuals and government to invest in the welfare of security of the people.

The distribution was witnessed by representatives of the funder, including Rev. Jim Olang and his colleague Melisa from Nairobi, who expressed their support for the initiative.

The NEF’s efforts demonstrate the organization’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in Nigeria’s most affected states.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our correspondent expressed gratitude to NEF for coming to their aid.

The distribution continues in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
