Newly-Deployed Brigade Commander Visits Adamawa CP, Pledges Collaboration

From Umar Dankano, Yola

Brigadier General Paul K. Zawaye, the newly-appointed commander of the 23rd Armoured Brigade in Yola, paid a courtesy visit to the Adamawa State Police Commissioner, CP Afolabi Babalola, on Wednesday.

The visit, aimed at fostering cooperation and synergy between the military and police, comes at a crucial time as the state grapples with evolving security challenges.

CP Babalola welcomed the visit, emphasizing its importance in enhancing collaboration and building a stronger security architecture.

He stressed the need for “cordial working relationships” and urged all officers to embrace the ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation.

Brigadier General Zawaye, accompanied by senior officers, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the importance of collaboration among all security agencies for effective service to the nation.

He emphasized the need for “community-oriented policing programs” and acknowledged the crucial role the police play in maintaining law and order.

The two leaders engaged in fruitful discussions, addressing critical issues such as tackling security challenges in the state, fostering synergy with sister agencies, and enhancing collaboration at all levels.

Notably, the discussions likely addressed the lingering tensions following the November 21st clash between the military and police, which is believed to have contributed to the withdrawal of the previous brigade commander.

Brigadier General Zawaye assured CP Babalola of his unwavering support in maintaining discipline amongst the ranks and files of the military.

He pledged the commitment of the 23rd Armoured Brigade to collaborate and provide necessary training for all security agencies to effectively discharge their duties and protect the lives and property of Adamawa citizens.
