NGO orients 50 women on Gender Responsive behaviour change in Jigawa

A non Governmental Organizations known as Nutrition International through FACE-PAM oriented fifty women on gender responsive behavior change interventions in Jigawa state.

Speaking during the meeting, the FACE-PAM project officer Gara Alheri Shiyya said, the participants include community health influencers , promoters and services across five local government of Kiyawa, Buji, Taura, Gagarawa and Kafin Hausa.

Shiyya explained that, one woman selected from each political wards PHCs of these five local government whom were expected to sensitize the community structures(Traditional birth attendance and volunteer community mobilizers) on the gender responsive behavior change interventions.

The project officer added that, the sensitization will also help the pregnant women to know the importance on the uptake of Iron Folid Acid supplementation and Anti-Natal Care attendance.

She then called for more support and cooperation from both husbands, family, traditional and religious leaders for more safety delivery by pregnant women in Jigawa.

Also speaking to our reporter, some of participants appealed for more caring of pregnant women from husbands as well as supporting them to attend Anti-Natal Care.

Harira Hilal, a chips( community health influencer, promoters, and services)from Andaza said, more caring from husbands will reduce more hardship in pregnancy and delivery period.

Also speaking, Fatima Muhammad Lawan from Kwanda commended FACE-PAM for sensitizing them and promised to stepdown the sensitization to their respective communities.
